Liquid-Applied Membranes
A seamless, flexible membrane formed directly on the surface — no joints, no seams, no weak points to exploit.

What it is
Liquid-applied membranes are polymer-based coatings (commonly polyurethane or acrylic) applied wet directly onto a prepared surface, where they cure into a continuous, flexible, seamless waterproofing layer that follows the exact contours of the substrate.
How it works
The liquid coating is applied in multiple coats using a roller, brush or spray, often reinforced with a fabric layer at joints and details for added strength. As it cures, it forms a single continuous membrane with no laps or seams — unlike sheet membranes, which have joints between panels.
When it's used
- Terraces and exposed roofs with irregular shapes, upstands or many penetrations
- Balconies, where a seamless finish around drains and edges matters
- Refurbishment work over existing surfaces without full demolition
Advantages
- Fully seamless — no joints between sheets for water to exploit
- Conforms to complex shapes, corners and penetrations easily
- Can often be applied directly over sound existing surfaces
